The Hotshop at Holmegaard Værk
In the Hotshop you get a close look at life as a glassworker at Holmegaard Glassworks. It was here in the glass hut that the glassmakers blew glass, pulled stems and shaped feet while sweating in the heat of the large tank furnace.
The heat is no longer here. When the large tank furnace was turned off, the 45 tons of liquid glass inside slowly settled and solidified. And when the plant had to close in 2008, the site was hastily abandoned. The dust still lingers on the buttons that operate the machines and the furnace lies like a huge mausoleum with a cold mass of glass that will never move on.
You can experience the glassblowers at Holmegaard Værk every day between 10:00 - 12:00 and 13:00 - 16:00.

We take you back to the warmth of the tank furnace - with respect for a place that has been the workplace of generations and generations of glass workers for almost 200 years.
They are the ones who tell the stories in short podcasts that you can listen to while your eyes are captivated by enchanting light installations and mesmerizing animations.
You can also see how glass is made. In their new and modern workshop, a team of skilled glassmakers will give you an insight into the process when they, in collaboration with a number of guest artists, once again fire up the kilns and let Holmegaard Glassworks provide the setting for a new production of glass art.
