MOSAIC WITH 200 YEARS OLD GLASS SHEETS
Location: Holmegaard Works
Price: DKK 1,300 (max 28 students)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Target group: 3rd–6th grade & high school visual arts elective
We look at Holmegaard Værk's impressive collection of glass from different periods in the factory's history. We go out into the bog, where the old glass has become shards left behind in nature, and collect the shards that we reuse to make glass mosaics.
Back in the workshop you create your own work with a mosaic of glass shards, which are cast into the wet plaster. You reuse the collected glass shards to create a sustainable work of art, where you create your interpretation of a Holmegaard glass. We let your imagination run wild and let your hands and mind develop in the workshop.
Note: The course is only offered during the museum's opening hours.
BOOK YOUR COURSE
All courses can be booked by writing to undervisning@museerne.dk.
Write which school you come from, which course you want, number of students, and date and time. You will receive a confirmation and a follow-up email with practical information when your request is accepted.
We strive to respond to your inquiry as quickly as possible.
Do you have students with special needs or challenges and are you unsure whether they can participate in the course? Remember to tell us about it when you book. We want to be a museum for everyone.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The students are active in the workshop, where we mix and work with plaster. They should therefore wear practical clothing that can be worn during workshop activities.
There is a break during the process where the plaster needs to dry – it is used during the packed lunch break in the workshop.
The students' works must be transported back to school, but they are not fully cured - so please bring boxes for shared transport of the works.
