FRIENDS OF THE KITCHEN MUSEUM

Køge Museum's Friends and Amateur Archaeologists is an association of history enthusiasts. We collaborate with Køge Museum.

The Friends of Køge Museum have existed since 1962, and for just as long we have supported Køge Museum with both money and work.

We would like to help give people more knowledge about the history of Køge. We do this, for example, by lending a hand at events at the museum. We have moved chairs, sold coffee and food and helped visitors. We are also initiators of events ourselves.

We have held lectures and played medieval people and Vikings. We have told about the history of the city and the surrounding area. We have visited the churches in the area and organized excursions in a rented bus. In the future, we will also be active, and new ideas are welcome.

You can stay informed about events and news at Køge Museum on the museum's website, in the local press and via newsletters that we send to all members a couple of times a year.

Members of Køge Museums Venner have free admission to Køge Museum and receive a 10% discount in the Køge Museum shop upon presentation of a valid membership card.

In the daily work, there is a board elected by the general meeting consisting of four members, two alternates and a chairman.

The relationship between the Friends of Køge Museum and Museum Southeast Denmark
Since the Friends of Køge Museum were originally created to provide cultural and financial support to Køge Museum, this will continue to be the purpose of the association. The financial support will only be available to those employees of Museum Sødøstdanmark who are responsible for managing the daily operations at Køge Museum. The amount will therefore not be included in the joint finances of Museum Sødøstdanmark.

As a natural consequence of prehistory and geography, the Friends of Køge Museum will primarily work in continued collaboration with the employees of Køge Museum.

In the statutes of Museum Sydøstdanmark §6, paragraph 6: "The museum's board and management are obliged to hold meetings at least once a year with the Museum Associations (friends' associations) in Køge, Næstved and Vordingborg, as well as other interest organizations and volunteers in the museum's area of responsibility."

The Friends of Køge Museum will also keep Museum Southeast Denmark informed about its activities.

Adopted at the general meeting on March 8, 2017.
