Experience 12 fantastic stories about love, power, evil, trade and much more at Møns Museum
Look forward to discovering 12 fantastic stories about a region that contains much more than meets the eye.
The exhibitions take you through both light and dark chapters in Møn's stories - from scents, dreams and love to power, death, evil and small glimmers of hope.
Along the way you will meet kings and criminals, artists and collectives, foreign peoples and close destinies. Here you can experience the medieval market town of Stege unfolding, feel the rush of Møns Klint and the unpredictable forces of the sea, delve into the artist communities of the Golden Age and follow immigrants - from ancient Arabs to 1970s hippies. People who have all shaped the region in their own way.
The stories are based on real events and real people. But they are also about something bigger: about the rhythm of life, the power of faith, the importance of judgment and our eternal urge to understand ourselves through stories. Here, Møn farming communities stand side by side with international artists; stormy floods with quiet everyday life; legendary kings with pilots, turnip girls, Finn children and Møn residents with the courage for change.
As you move through the twelve rooms, you simultaneously move through twelve perspectives on what it means to be human – here, then and now.
After five years of careful restoration, you can experience the impressive city gate from the inside for the first time. Step through the arches, feel the medieval presence in the thick walls, and enjoy the view over the city and sea, where guards once scouted for enemies.
