Tour of Borgring

Come on a guided tour around Borgring, and hear how archaeologists found the remains of one of Harald Bluetooth's ringed fortresses just outside Køge in 2014.

On the tour we will tell you about the function of the fortress in the Viking Era, its special location - and the historical context of Denmark's shift from the old nordic gods to Christianity.

We will have a closer look at the archaeology of the fortress and discuss what it can tell us about viking society and the power of kings.

WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU VISIT

How do we book a course?

All courses are booked by contacting us at undervisning@museerne.dk

Write in your message which school you're from, which course you want, the number of students, and date and time. You will receive a confirmation as well as a follow-up e-mail with practical information once your request has been accepted.

Can we visit the museum without booking a course?

Yes, but we recommend letting us know in advance if you arrive as a larger group, so we can create plenty of space for you in the exhibits, and ensure that no other bookings conflict with your visit.

What if we have students with special needs?

We want to be a museum for everyone.

Please let us know about the needs of your students in the booking e-mail - such as motor-related disabilities, need for breaks, support for communication, sensory needs, etc. Together we will arrange your visit as best as possible.

Do the students need to dress for anything?

Yes, in the case of outdoor activities and visits the Borgring itself, students must be dressed according to the weather, and wear sensible walking shoes.

Can we eat packed food at the museum?

Yes, Viking Fortress Borgring has a cozy terrasse with a view of the fortress, where your students may enjoy their packed food.

Can we store bags and jackets?

Yes, the museum has a cloakroom. In case of larger groups we do recommend packing your items together in bags/boxes.

What if we are late?

If you are late, contact the museum as soon as possible. We will adapt the course as well as we can, but in case of longer delays we may have to remove some parts of it, so as to not conflict with other bookings.

Can we bring two classes at once?

Yes, several courses are designed to be expanded to two classes at once. We do ask that you bring enough teachers to cover the extra students - and the course has to be able to be expanded. Please ask us for details.

Where can we park buses?

The Viking Fortress Borgring has bus parking. We will send you the information upon booking.

Can the students explore the museum on their own?

We expect teachers to be present and responsible for their students for the entire duration of the visit. Independent exploration can be part of the course, but must always be coordinated with the museum communicator.

What if we have to cancel?

In case of cancellation, please contact us as soon as possible. Any cancellations must take place at least 48 hours before the visit. Late cancellation may incur a fee, unless there is a case of force majeure.
