In 2023 it happened. After seven years of intense work, piles of documentation and nail-biting excitement, Denmark received its newest world heritage: Harald Bluetooth's five monumental ring castles – including Borgring – were included on UNESCO's prestigious list of the world's most important cultural heritage sites.

In 2023, the ringforts were included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, joining some of the world's most distinguished cultural monuments such as the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids of Egypt. What is unique about the castles is the systematic, centralizing idea that radiates from their symmetrical architecture.
