Step into the deep cellars, hidden chambers and historic levels of the Goose Tower, where myths and mysteries come alive in the exhibition MONSTER, created by multidisciplinary artist Shane Brox.

For centuries, monsters have haunted the shadows of the night, the depths of the sea and distant, unknown lands where imagination ran free. They have inspired fear and wonder, symbolising the unknown in human life – much like the Goose Tower itself, which has stood for 700 years, guarding the mysteries of the past.

Here, you’ll encounter fascinating creatures – from the love-hungry Kraken to the fear-spreading Beelzebub, the lonely Dragon and many more.

Each monster represents an emotion, inviting both children and adults to explore difficult feelings in a playful and thought-provoking way.

Visit the exhibition, meet the monsters, and discover what these emotions mean – and how to understand them.

ART, CREATIVITY AND REUSE

All the monsters in the exhibition are made from recycled materials such as foam mattresses, old dresses, bottle caps and curtains – a creative contribution from the Danish Castle Centre towards protecting our environment.

Come face to face with the Sad Blemmya, for example, with a body and skeleton made from an old garden parasol and discarded textiles, a nose from a foam mattress and eyes made from frisbees. Look the monster in the eye and experience how creativity can help process emotions and thoughts in a constructive way.
