In the heart of Vordingborg, at the foot of the iconic Goose Tower, you will find Denmark's Castle Center – an interactive experience center for the whole family. Here, where the monarchy once ruled, you can experience medieval castles, power and history firsthand.

Vordingborg was the king's largest castle, a cornerstone in the defense of Denmark and a symbol of the king's power. Great kings such as Valdemar the Great, Valdemar the Victorious and Valdemar Atterdag ruled here. In the Middle Ages, castles were not just defensive works – they were the king's outposts, sending a clear signal to any potential enemy: Here I reign!

At Denmark's Castle Center, we bring history to life. In our exhibitions, you get up close to the kings and the traces left by centuries of power, trade, political games and military battles. With our digital audio guide, you can tailor your experience and hear the stories behind the unique objects.

Here are hours of entertainment and learning for the whole family, where children and adults can discover history together.

Don't miss a trip up Vordingborg's iconic landmark, the Goose Tower – the best-preserved medieval tower in the Nordic region. Entrance to the tower is included in the ticket price.

THE OUTDOOR SHOWHOUSE

The Danish Castle Center's exhibition building was created by the architects from Lundgaard and Tranberg. The building is not just a building, but a meeting place between past and present, where the modern unfolds in harmony with the depths of history. Our exhibition building is not like traditional museums. The design is carefully coordinated with the protected ancient monument, and it integrates beautifully into the surroundings. A large part of the building is buried in the terrain, and it is clad in corten steel, patinated in the most beautiful reddish-brown rust, which harmonizes with Vordingborg Castle's red brick.

THE INDOOR EXHIBITION HOUSE

Inside, you will find a raw exhibition building with concrete walls and subdued lighting. Several walls are decorated by Norwegian street artist Pøbel, whose large graffiti paintings help to emphasize the raw character of the building and the exhibition's surprising meeting between past and present.

The exhibitions are staged with light projections on the walls, developed by the light and video artists from Dark Matters, and the purpose is to support the stories and tell everything that cannot be written or said in words.
