At Køge Museum you have the opportunity to book your own tour. Here we take you on a journey into the world of faith and superstition. From Norse mythology to witch burnings, vaulted tombs and a mysterious satanic cult.

Introduction to BEAST

In this introduction, we give a brief overview of Denmark's largest witch trial. Hear about the dramatic witch burnings, Køge Huskors and the eerie devilish possession that affected an entire family in the 17th century.

Look forward to gaining insight into how fear and superstition gripped the city and changed the lives of both the accused and citizens.

Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.

City tour about witches

Join us on a walk through the streets of Køge, where the city's dark witchcraft stories took place. You will experience the places where women were accused, convicted and burned - and hear about widows, commoners' wives and wealthy merchant wives who were struck by the suspicion of witchcraft. The tour provides a unique insight into 17th-century everyday life, fear and community in a city in the shadow of the witch hunt.
