Go hunting for hidden treasures when you visit Køge Museum.
On your tour of the old museum, you will pass skeletons, exciting finds from the past and Peter Madsen's iconic Valhalla drawings - and if you look closely, you can solve the puzzle, fill out the treasure map and get a small reward at the museum reception.
History is to be experienced at Køge Museum. Therefore, you can continue your visit at the playground in the cozy museum garden, where you can pretend that you yourself were aboard the liner Dannebroge at the moment it blew up.
The playground is a climbing challenge where you can jump or climb from wreckage to wreckage, across the enormous explosion and on to the ship's bow, which, along with the large figurehead of the golden lion, has been broken off.
When you've explored Køge's exciting history, you can end your visit in the museum shop - a treasure trove of quirky finds for children and their adults. Here you can find fun games, exciting books, comics and toys, so you can take a little bit of local history home and play further.
The shop is located in the reception and follows the museum's opening hours.
Children and young people up to the age of 18 always have free admission to Køge Museum when accompanied by an adult.
Køge Museum is located in a more than 400-year-old, listed building. So unfortunately we are not able to make it particularly accessible for you with a stroller or pram. However, you can park your stroller or pram close to the reception, at your own risk. Please note that there are differences in level and stairs in the exhibition and that the building does not have an elevator.
Food and drinks brought in may not be enjoyed inside the museum, but in the adjacent museum garden. It is possible to buy both cold and hot drinks in the museum shop. If you have an annual pass, you always get a 10% discount on drinks as well as on shop items. See more here
There are locked lockers at the entrance. They are free to use and free of charge. However, there are only a small number of lockers available.
Toilets are located in the museum's arrival area, where there is also access to a baby changing area. Our toilets are free for all visitors to the museum and playground.
